Universal Health Coverage Day (UHC Day) is commemorated on 12 December every year. Universal Health Coverage (UHC) is a global health goal that aims to ensure that all individuals and communities receive the quality health services they need without suffering financial difficulties.
The World Health Organization (WHO) strives for people to receive necessary health services without suffering financial hardship when paying for them. It is about leaving no one behind, regardless of their socio-economic background or geographical location.
According to the WHO, evidence-based investment in primary care is the most effective and equitable way to promote universal health coverage (UHC).
At Amal Outreach, we recognize that investing in strong primary care is one of the most impactful, and cost-effective ways to reduce pain, illness, and death in Nigeria.
With this in mind, we founded the Iyewo comprehensive primary healthcare clinic in early 2023 to address the primary healthcare needs of underserved communities in Lagos Island. Here are some of the ways we contribute to the progress of UHC in Nigeria:

- Community Outreach: We actively engage with local communities by arranging health screenings and education programs. This helps us identify medical conditions early on and assist individuals in making informed decisions about their health.
